Polis Partners partnered with Astrolabe to conduct economic and financial modelling to support Tobwabba Aboriginal Medical Service’s business case for a new, culturally sensitive and inclusive drug and alcohol detox and rehabilitation centre located on Worimi Country in Forster, NSW.

The proposed new facility would improve access for First Nations people seeking drug and alcohol rehabilitation services, reduce the number of First Nations people requiring acute and ongoing healthcare related to drug and alcohol use, and contribute to Closing the Gap on socioeconomic outcomes.

Our economic cost-benefit analysis (CBA) and financial modelling supported a business case, providing the specific inputs for the economic and financial sections, enabling Tobwabba Aboriginal Medical Service to seek funding for the new centre. We also quantified key benefits including reduced wait times, travel savings, avoided healthcare and justice system costs, improved productivity, and lower rates of drug and alcohol-related harm. This further strengthening the case for change to support Tobwabba Aboriginal Medical Service’s vision to build a place of calm, safety, connection and healing close to community, within a framework of culture and care
