Polis Partners has been a trusted adviser over multiple years for the Department of Education. This has included supporting teams in delivering key aspects of the Government’s response to the findings of the Australian Universities Accord, including:

  • Establishing the new pricing function in the Australian Tertiary Education Commission (ATEC).
  • Supporting ATEC to develop a cost collection and pricing framework, including domestic pricing comparisons, cost collection options analysis, workplan for the cost working group and research into cost collection categories.
  • Developing cost estimates, costing justifications and supporting artefacts for Government consideration of initiatives to implement the Accord recommendations.
  • Supporting the scope, policy development and costings in establishing the National Student Ombudsman.
  • Establishing the team to deliver the higher education gender-based violence action plan.
  • Supporting the development of legislative amendments to implement recommendations made by the Accord to address fundamental challenges facing the Australian higher education system.
  • Improving processes and addressing a backlog of applications under the location-preferred HELP debtor program which can provide eligible teachers, doctors and nurse practitioners living and working in remote or very remote locations with a waiver of indexation and/or a reduction of their HELP debt.
  • Developing a workplan and strategy for the Equity in Higher Education Panel to advise the Government on improving the performance of the higher education sector in supporting educationally disadvantaged groups to succeed in higher education.
