Botanic Garden Asset Management Plan Business Case
The Challenge
The Botanic Gardens of Sydney (BGS) required a shortform business case to secure NSW Treasury funding for initiatives outlined in its asset management plan. While the existing plan was comprehensive, it lacked the Treasury-compliant format and a structured cost-benefit analysis needed to demonstrate investment value. The project aimed to restructure the plan and embed a robust economic framework to meet Treasury requirements and support the funding case.
The Action
The project involved translating the asset management plan into a Treasurycompliant shortform business case. This included clearly articulating the case for change, defining asset expenditure options, and assessing the benefits of implementation. A tailored cost-benefit analysis framework was developed to quantify the expected economic and operational advantages. Additionally, the document incorporated all required management chapters to ensure alignment with Treasury guidelines.
The Results
The shortform business case was successfully submitted for funding consideration. By ensuring compliance with Treasury requirements and providing a clear economic rationale, the submission strengthened BGS’s case for investment in its asset management plan.
